Liverpool manager tries to play down striker’s fresh injury

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has tried to play down his striker’s Daniel Strurridge’s new injury concern.

Sturridge was hit with another hamstring problem during Liverpool’s 2-0 away loss at Newcastle on Sunday. He’s set to be out for a few more weeks but according to Klopp it isn’t anything too serious.

“It is like always, it is a hamstring and it is not easy to say when he can be back for us,” Klopp said.

“There are two different things we have to look at: the injury and bringing him into shape so it is not so intense.

“If you look at his history in the last month or year it is not the longest time he could train. It is always train/be available/next injury.

“It is what makes more sense for his general shape. I cannot say at this moment what we will do exactly.

“It’s not serious. He had 60 minutes v Southampton, another 30 versus Newcastle.

“But he felt something in muscle. We have to build up resistance.”
