Winger joined Manchester City this summer

Manchester City star Raheem Sterling has admitted leaving Liverpool was an easy decision.

The winger joined City after they agreed to pay Liverpool ÂŁ49million, a British transfer record, and he has since admitted that leaving Anfield was an easy choice.

Sterling left The Reds in controversial fashion after refusing to sign a new contract and then refusing to join up with pre-season training and the pre-season tour.

The England international informed Brendan Rodgers at the start of pre-season that he didn’t want to travel to the Far East and Australia, which sped up the transfer to City.

The 20-year-old then received a third offer from City, which Liverpool accepted and he then completed his switch to the Etihad Stadium.

Since then, the winger has enjoyed a pre-season with his new club and he’s admitted that moving was an easy decision.

‘Easy Decision’

“The decision was easy when I first knew,” Sterling said.

“With the players they’ve got here, it’s just a really attractive place to be. I’m happy I made that decision.

“It’s been a good pre-season so far. Obviously some of the results haven’t gone our way but there are some great players here.

“I’m really looking forward to linking up with them in the coming season. I’m trying to add more goals and creativity to my game.

“I’m trying to gets my assist numbers and goals up.”
