- Match Analysis
According to reports from Marca, Barcelona skipper and talisman Lionel Messi will most likely travel with the Barcelona team to the San Siro for their Champions League clash against Inter Milan. Messi suffered an injury in his arm during Barcelona’s match against Sevilla and it looked like he would miss three weeks of action. However, it seems that Messi is fit enough to at least be in Barcelona’s squad for their match against Inter Milan.
Despite Messi’s absence, Barcelona have won every match they have played. They thrashed Real Madrid 5-1, won their Copa del Ray match against Cultural Leonesa and yesterday, defeated Rayo Vallecano 3-2. The match against Ray Vallecano was a thrilling contest indeed. Luis Suarez opened the scoring for Barca before Rayo Vallecano struck twice to lead 2-1. It seemed that Barcelona were heading towards a defeat. However, Ousmane Dembele and Luis Suarez struck during the final minutes of the match to win it for Barcelona.
Messi has already returned to training and may make Barca’s squad for their match against Inter Milan. However, it seems very unlikely that Ernesto Valverde will start him against Inter. Even though Inter are very formidable at home, Barcelona still have enough firepower to fight them. Besides, even a draw will be sufficient for the Blaugrana to advance to the knockout stages.
