Liverpool and Southampton have reportedly reached a deal for centre-back Dejan Lovren.

Lovren has been a target for Liverpool for some time now, and it has taken weeks for the two clubs to get to this stage. The 24 year old will become the third Southampton player to join the Reds this summer, joinging Rickie Lamber and Adam Lallana.

Liverpool are set to pay ÂŁ16million for the Croatian up front. The fee will then rise to up to ÂŁ20million with bonuses for appearences and honours. Lovren, who threatened to go on strike if the move didn’t happen, will sign a four-year deal at Anfield.

New Southampton boss Ronald Koeman had been adamant Lovren was going nowhere.

However, he has given the move the green light after being keen not to keep an unhappy player at the club.

Koeman said: “I don’t want to lose him but, if he leaves, he will only go for a top price.”

The Saints signed Lovren for ÂŁ9m last summer from Lyon.
