Liverpool and Arsenal eyeing Bayer Leverkusen’s Alejandro Grimaldo

Liverpool and Arsenal have both set their eyes on Bayer Leverkusen’s Alejandro Grimaldo, who continues to impress in the Bundesliga. The 28-year-old, who joined Leverkusen from Benfica last summer, has flourished as a crucial player under manager Xabi Alonso, netting 11 goals and providing 15 assists in 41 games across several competitions.

According to Football Transfers, both Premier League clubs are keeping an eye on Grimaldo ahead of the summer transfer season. However, they face competition from Bayern Munich, who are also interested in the Spaniard as a replacement for Alphonso Davies.

While Grimaldo is under contract with Leverkusen until 2027, the possibility of playing in the Premier League could impact his decision. Liverpool, in particular, are looking to improve their left-back options after Andrew Robertson’s injury problems this season.

Arsenal, on the other hand, are looking for reinforcements, with Kieran Tierney likely leaving after his loan term at Real Sociedad and Oleksandr Zinchenko’s future at the Emirates Stadium uncertain.

Grimaldo’s variety, as he can play as a wing-back or a classic left-sided defender, makes him a desirable potential for both clubs. His capacity to contribute offensively while also playing strong defense fits with the modern full-back mold desired by top teams.

Given Leverkusen’s domination in the Bundesliga this season, Grimaldo may be enticed to try himself in the Premier League, adding to the secrecy around his potential transfer.
