Liverpool and Spurs eye up Schurrle

The German winger has failed to make a significant impact since winning the World Cup over the summer with boss Jose Mourinho openly speaking out about his inconsistent performances.

Schurrle joined the Blues in the summer of 2013 from Bayer Leverkusen for ÂŁ18m but has only managed to net 11 times in 54 appearances and reports claim that Mourinho is running out of patience, whilst clearly preferring Willian.

Chelsea have been linked with other wingers in the lead up to January’s transfer window such as Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale and Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus and reports have now claimed that the West London side have allowed Schurrle to leave.

A number of top European sides are said to have been linked with the 24 year-old including Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid but it is believed that Tottenham and Liverpool have now joined the race.

Mauricio Pochettino and Brenden Rodgers have both endured poor starts to the season and will be hoping to land the German international as they look to add strength to their attacks and get their season back on track.
