Liverpool are not interested in Premier League strikers

Liverpool are not interested in signing either Swansea City’s Wilfried Bony or Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku, despite seeing their deal for Loic Remy fall through after he failed his medical.

The Queens Park Rangers striker was set to complete an ÂŁ8.5million switch to Anfield over the weekend, but after taking his medical on Friday, results came back yesterday and after seeing them, Rodgers decided to pull out of the deal after the Frenchman failed the tests.

This has now left Liverpool with just Daniel Sturridge, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini as recognised strikers, but the latter could still be on his way out this Summer with Sunderland interested.

However, it’s understood that neither Bony or Lukaku are being considered by Liverpool at the moment, and Rodgers has admitted he may wait until January to land a new striker.

“There are certain different areas where I want to bring in players, but they have to be the right type,” Rodgers said.

“There is money to spend, no question, but I won’t spend it for the sake of it. It has to be the right type.

“If that means I have to wait until January then that’s what I will do.

“If the right ones become available we would like to do something because I still have a lot to do on that front – but if they’re not available, I will wait.”

Liverpool have been long-term admirers of Bony and were also monitoring Lukaku’s situation now that Didier Drogba has returned to Chelsea.
