Reds pile more misery onto Jose Mourinho with 3-1 win

Jose Mourinho’s job is becoming more and more uncertain after yet another Premier League defeat – this time at the hands of Liverpool.

The Blues began the day in 15th after losing five of their opening 10 games in the league, with Liverpool sitting in 9th.

Both managers were in desperate need for wins, with Mourinho‘s job reportedly on the line, and Jurgen Klopp looking for his first Premier League victory as Liverpool boss.

With some reports suggesting Mourinho would lose his job with a loss against the Reds, the hosts started brightly and looked ready to fight for their manager.

Match Summary

In fact, it only took four minutes for Stamford Bridge to erupt when Ramires headered from from a Cesar Azpilicueta cross. The Brazilian signed a new contract at the club mid-week, and he celebrated that with the opening goal.

Chelsea then looked to hold out for the one-goal lead, but right on the stroke of half-time, Philippe Coutinho levelled for the visitors with a fine, curling finish from just inside the box.

The goal game in the 47th minute much to the frustrations of Mourinho.

Things got worse for Mourinho in the second-half when Coutinho doubled his tally and gave Liverpool the lead. With just 15-minutes left on the clock, Klopp‘s side took a much deserved lead thanks to the Brazilian play-maker.

The three points were wrapped up nine-minutes later when Christian Benteke came on to score past Asmir Begovic.

Will this be the end to Jose Mourinho at Chelsea?

Match Reaction

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho repeatedly asked about the performance and his future: “I have nothing to say. I have nothing to say. I have nothing to say. I’m so sorry I have nothing to say. The fans are not stupid. I am not worried [about his future].
