PSV allow Dutchman to hold talks with Reds

Liverpool have been given a massive transfer boost as PSV have allowed them to hold formal talks with winger Memphis Depay.

The Dutchman has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League, with Manchester United favourites to sign him after the Dutch club admitted that talks were ongoing.

However, according to reports this morning, Liverpool have also been given permission to hold talks with the 21-year-old.

Transfer Warning

It’s believed Liverpool officials have told Brendan Rodgers that his job is safe despite this season’s failures, but they have warned him about his recent transfer activity.

Rodgers hasn’t spent money wisely since taking over at Anfield, and he has been advised to sign more familiar players and recognised faces.

Depay would cost Liverpool or United up to £18million, but at the young age of 21, he’s seen as a bright prospect for the future.

The only stumbling block for Rodgers is the Dutch connection Depay has with United boss Louis Van Gaal.

The two English sides are expected to battle it out for the winger at the end of the season.
