Raphael Honigstein believes Reds have asked about manager twice now

Liverpool have approached former-Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp on two separate occasions, according to journalist Raphael Honigstein.

It was well documented that Liverpool officials were interested in making Klopp their new manager once he revealed his plans to leave Dortmund at the end of last season.

However, the German revealed his plans to take a break from football until the right project came available.

According to journalist, Raphael Honigstein, Liverpool didn’t take no for an answer and went back in for Klopp after scrutiny of Brendan Rodgers continued to grow from the fan-base.

Hongstein has also claimed that officials from Anfield could seek formal talks with Klopp once again, this time in November.

Klopp Talks

‘It’s not a secret by now that Liverpool have tried twice to get Klopp to take over,’ Honigstein told the Guardian.

‘They didn’t go for him in the summer when he was clearly available so they stuck with Brendan.

‘Now I have to say that this is not really backed up by any hard facts but I get the sense after speaking to one or two people that there’s an opportunity to sit down and discuss things going forward (with Klopp) in November.

‘I’m not sure if that’s directly related to what Liverpool are doing this season (but) maybe it’s for next season.’
