Liverpool representatives are currently in Lisbon holding talks over a permanent deal for midfielder William Carvalho.
The 24-year-old has played 136 games for Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon since making his debut for the Primeira Liga side back in 2011 and has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in the last couple of seasons.
It is believed Arsenal are keen admirers of Carvalho but Liverpool are now favourites to sign the Portugal international.
A Bola claim Jurgen Klopp’s outfit are already in negotiations with Sporting director Bruno de Carvalho over a big money deal for the defensive midfielder.
However, the Reds need to be willing to pay a lot of cash for Carvalho, with Sporting wanting at least £26million for their star player.
Liverpool manager Klopp is looking to bring in defensive midfield options and Carvalho is the top target for the German gaffer.
Inter Milan midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia has also caught Klopp’s eye with impressive performances in Serie A so far this term.
