The Spaniard has bags of experience but he is not the only free agent goalkeeper on the market.
Valdes is currently suffering from a cruciate ligament injury and he will likely sign after he fully recovers from the injury and can pass his club medical.
The keeper who has experience both at the Nou Camp and at international level, will provide a wealth of knowledge of the game and can compete for a place in the starting line-up against Belgian Simon Mignolet, who just completed his debut season at Anfield.
It is reported that the Merseyside club will wait until October to make a move for Valdes due to the injury which has already kept the 32 year-old away from a move to Monaco.
There is currently nothing stopping any other clubs from sneaking in and hijacking the proposed move but Brenden Rodgers’ side are confident they will secure the signing before the start of the new year.
