Liverpool are reportedly planning a £40million double swoop for Southampton duo Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren.

The Reds are keen to bulk up their squad ahead of next season as they prepare for life back in the Champions League after their second-place finish, and Brendan Rodgers is keen to do business early.

Rodgers is a big fan of Saints midfielder, Lallana, and he is willing to pay up to £25million for the Englishmen, who is preparing for his first ever World Cup after being called up by Roy Hodgson.

Reports suggested that Liverpool offered £20m for the playmaker, but Southampton are keen to hold out for at least £25m after he starred in their season throughout.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino is desperate to keep hold of his star-assets, and it’s believed if the club fail to keep hold of them, the Argentine will also jump ship, with Tottenham Hotspur waiting to pounce after sacking Tim Sherwood.

As well as Lallana, Rodgers is also showing interest in centre-back, Dejan Lovren, after numerous errors from his current defenders throughout the season cost them their first ever Premier League title.

A mass-sale is expected at Anfield so that Rodgers can freshen up his squad, and he is hopeful that he can bring in the Saints duo to help strengthen his side.
