Arsenal have been dealt a huge transfer blow by Spanish side Real Madrid as they slap a £45million price-tag on the head of Gunners target Angel Di Maria.
The Argentine winger, who has fallen down the pecking order at the Bernabeu due to Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronalo, was linked with a Summer switch to the Emirates Stadium, following in the footsteps of former-Madrid star Mesut Ozil.
However, the La Liga giants wouldn’t accept any offer below their asking-price of £45m, which is £2million more than what Arsenal paid for Ozil last Summer.
Arsene Wenger is keen to bolster his squad ahead of next season, and he’s prepared to spend big money once again, but it’s believed that he is not willing to stretch out £45m for Di Maria, and will begin to look elsewhere.
The 26-year-old scored 11 goals for Carlo Ancelotti’s side this year, but Arsenal are only willing to pay £32million for him, which is £13m short of Madrid’s valuation.
