Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes the club still need to spend more money if they are to achieve a top-four finish despite them winning their opening three games of the season, including a 1-0 victory over Manchester United.

Goals from Daniel Sturridge in the three opening games have been enough to give The Reds three wins from three, but the man at the helm still believes more money needs to be spent at Anfield.

The club are predicted to be in a tight race for fourth with the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur come the end of the season and Rodgers believes his side are still some way behind their closest rivals.

‘We still need to make improvements. Tottenham have spent ÂŁ100m to try and get in the top four. It will take another few windows to get that quality in the group.’

These comments have come from Rodgers despite the club buying; Mamadou Sakho, Tiago Ilori, Victor Moses, Kolo Toure, Iago Aspas, Luis Alberto, Simon Mignolet and Aly Cissokho.
