Liverpool open Shaqiri talks

The Reds have opened talks with Swiss star Xherdan Shaqiri.

liverpool have began to take steps forward to sign the Swiss winger Xherdan Shaqiri from Stroke City. The reds are hopeful of completing a £13 million deal with the winger by the end of the month.

The Swiss winger has options to play attacking football has increased hisdemand to join the Reds. Jurgen Klopp has also praised the player and is willing to add him in his squad fot the upcoming season.

Liverpool understands that Xherdan Shaqiri’s contract has a release clause which will make the player available at £13 million ($17 million).

The Swiss Winger who was a part of the Swiss Football club FC Basel in his initial days.  He scored 23 goals from his 233 appearances for the club before moving to German giants Bayern Munich. The Winger joined the German club in the year 2012 for €11.6 million on a 4-year contract. The player represented the German club for 81 matches, scoring in 17 occasions.

After being at the German club for 3 years, the Swizz then moved to Italian club Inter Milan on a 4-and-a-half-year deal with the club for €15 million. But after representing the Italian side in 20 matches and scoring 3 goals for the side, the Winger then moved to English side Stroke City and has been a part of the club for last 3 years. On 11 August, Shaqiri completed his move to Stoke for a club-record fee of £12 million (€14.5 million). He has represented the club in 92 games and has scored 15 times for the club.

Klopp has already added two players – Naby Keita and Fabinho – to his squad this summer, but Klopp understands that it wont be enough to compete with Premier League champions, Manchester City. Liverpool got luck that there frontliners Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mo Salah – remained fit and healthy for the majority of the campaign but knows that the side lack depth when the side was exposed during the Champions League Final against Real Madrid when Mo. Salah got injured.

Liverpool has also linked up with targets like Nebil Fekir  who looks as a possible move to the Reds.
