Reds ready to beat rivals to signing

Liverpool are preparing to pay Andriy Yarmolenko’s £14.5m release clause, according to reports in Italy.

The Ukraine international has attracted interest from Everton, Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund during the transfer window.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger reportedly called Yarmolenko in an attempt to persuade him to join the Emirates club.

But the 25-year-apparently told the Frenchman: “I am very grateful but my dream is to play for Barca.”

Liverpool Interest

And Liverpool have now emerged as contenders according to Italian website Tuttomercatoweb.

They say Brendan Rodgers has a strong interest in the Dynamo Kiev winger and would be willing to pay his £14.5million (€20m) clause.

The Premier League transfer window closes at 6pm on Tuesday.
