Reds interesting in Frenchman despite Benteke’s arrival

Liverpool are preparing a large bid for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette, despite heavy interest being shown from Arsenal and Manchester United.

The Reds are still showing a lot of interest in the 24-year-old, regardless of the fact they completed the ÂŁ32.5million signing of striker Christian Benteke from fellow Premier League side Aston Villa last week.

Busy Summer at Anfield

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has been busy so far in the transfer window, with the Merseyside club having already signed James Milner, Danny Ings and Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino to strengthen his attacking options in a bid to finish in the top four next term.

Lacazette has been linked with many clubs across Europe this summer after an impressive season in Ligue 1 last season, with Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea all monitoring the striker in recent months.

However, Lyon manager Hubert Fournier is adamant the forward is staying for at least one more season.

He said: “I haven’t got much to say. He has said he wants to stay with us.”

The France international, who bagged 27 goals in Ligue 1 last season, played against Arsenal on Saturday as his side lost 6-0 in the Emirates Cup.

PSG Cool Interest

French giants Paris Saint-Germain were also lining up a substantial offer for the forward but the French champions have set their targets on luring Manchester United star Angel Di Maria away from Old Trafford.

The Argentina international is expected to complete a ÂŁ46million move to PSG within the next week, subject to medial.
