They want Sakho to leave permanently

Liverpool have turned down a loan offer from Southampton for defensive outcast Mamadou Sakho.

The South-Coast club made their offer as they look to replace outgoing captain Jose Fonte- who is wanted by West Ham United.

French defender Sakho is available for transfer, as his relationship with Jurgen Klopp has completely broken down, but the Reds only want to sell him on a permanent deal, not on loan like Southampton are requesting.

He signed for Liverpool in 2013 for ÂŁ20million under Brendan Rodgers.

He was a big part of Jurgen Klopp’s team last season, as they reached the Europa League final. However, has was wrongly banned for using a fat-burner and missed the end of the season.

On the team’s pre-season tour this summer, his attitude got him sent home by Klopp, after he was late for a flight to the USA and missed a team meal.

On top of these incidents, he posted a bizarre ‘Snapchat rant’ that revealed he had been fit for months but was not being selected to play in the first team.

A combination of all these things has lead to the club wanted to get rid of him.
