Official price set for anyone interested in midfielder

Liverpool have put a £14million price tag on Welsh midfielder Joe Allen.

Swansea have already had an £8million bid for the midfielder rejected, as Liverpool’s valuation of him has gone up thanks to his impressive performances at Euro 2016 with Wales.

Allen arrived at Liverpool in 2012 for £15million, the first signing Liverpool made under ex-boss Brendan Rodgers.

Allen endured his fair share of criticism during his first couple of seasons for the club, but played tremendously in the middle of the park after the arrival of Jurgen Klopp, and has become much loved by fans.

Liverpool have also noted the prices being paid this summer for comparable midfield players when putting a value on Allen.

Arsenal spent £35million on Switzerland’s Granit Xhaka who did not go as far as Allen’s Wales at the European Championship while Manchester United have valued Borussia Dortmund’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan at £26million.

Klopp likes Allen as a player and a person but would have to give assurances about his position in the pecking order at Liverpool for him to want to stay.
