Liverpool target not ready to leave

Reported Liverpool target Marcelo is not ready to leave Real Madrid just yet, despite interest shown by Brendan Rodgers.

If reports are to be believed, The Reds were preparing a ÂŁ25million bid for the Brazilian left-back, but in a recent interview, Marcelo confirmed that his intentions are to remain at the Bernabeu for as long as possible as it is his dream to play for the club.

Rodgers, who is currently trying to win Liverpool their first ever Premier League title, is desperate to strengthen his side’s defence ahead of next season, and the Madrid-man was an option for a new left-back, but the 25-year-old has made it clear that he doesn’t want to leave Spain.

“My best memory of football was when I signed for Real Madrid because I did not expect it,” he told El Mundo Deportivo.

“It was a spectacular moment. I’ve been here since I was 18, I’m from Madrid in practice and I am proud to be one of the captains of Real Madrid.”

Marcelo has just over one-year left on his current contract, but he is keen to sign an extension as soon as possible.
