Liverpool are being put off by the asking price for Lallana. The Reds are said to have made a £25 million bid for the 26-year-old but manager Brendan Rodgers may turn to the 20-year-old Serbian who is said to be available for a similar price.
Several newspapers are reporting this morning that Liverpool are closing in on Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Emre Can.
The Reds have activated a release clause for Can that is close to £10 million with talks ongoing, and the club are looking to complete the deal very soon.
Bayer Leverkusen’s chief executive Michael Shade is quoted in the Liverpool Echo, saying: “Until Tuesday it [Liverpool’s bid] was a rumour. Now I can confirm that an official offer from Liverpool has been received by mail.”
