Liverpool to bid for Shaqiri

Liverpool are set to bid for Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri after he admitted he could quit the club this summer.

Shaqiri was a target for The Reds in January when Shaqiri began to slip down the pecking order at Bayern, but he eventually vowed to stay put and win his place back in the team.

However, that still hasn’t happened, with Bayern having several other options in attack, meaning the door could be opened again for Liverpool to try and get their man. The Reds are rumoured to be plotting a £15million bid to lure him from The Allianz.

The 22-year-old seems ready to walk away from the Bundesliga, and is reportedly interested in English football.

‘I don’t want to go through another year like this,’ he said.

‘We will see what happens, but I only want to play for a major club – the Champions League is important to me.

‘England would be an option. If I were to leave Bayern, it will be for a foreign club. But it will have to be a club challenging for the title.’

Shaqiri is just one of players linked with Liverpool as the club look to go on a major recruitment drive this summer, looking to challenge for the title again next season. Brendan Rodgers is reportedly extremely eager to spend his £60million transfer budget.
