Liverpool Football Club are set to open contract talks with centre-back, Martin Skrtel.
The 30-year-old has 18-months left on his current deal, and with him still being a crucial figure in the first-team, Brendan Rodgers and officials at Anfield are keen on him signing a new long-term deal.
The Slovakian international has been at the club for seven years now since his arrival from Russian side, Zenit St Petersburg, and he has become a real leader across the back-line in Merseyside.
It isn’t understood how far the talks are between the two parties, but the club are hopeful the defender will sign a new deal in the near-future.
