Club have announced deal

Liverpool Football Club have just announced a deal to sign Manchester City midfielder James Milner.

The England international is a free agent after confirming that he won’t sign an extension at the Etihad Stadium, meaning he could leave the club on a free once his current deal expires.

Liverpool and Arsenal have been tracking the midfielder over the past season, with his future in doubt due to worries about game-time, but this morning The Reds announced they’ve agreed a deal with the versatile star.

The 29-year-old informed City that he was thinking about leaving late last year after a lack of regular first-team football, and despite Manuel Pellegrini then using him frequently, he was still considering an exit over the Summer.

Pellegrini and co. were desperate to keep the versatile star in Manchester, especially as he’s English, and were prepared to offer him a contract worth £160k-a-week.

However, Milner’s main worry wasn’t the money, but it was the amount of first-team football he’d get if he stayed.

Milner will now join Liverpool in July once he officially leaves City.

Milner will arrive at Anfield having lifted two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and a League Cup during his five-year stint at the Etihad Stadium.

More to follow as we get it.
