Liverpool are trying to beat Chelsea to the signing of Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Douglas Costa, despite the Brazilian admitting that his dream is to play for the West London outfit.
The 24-year-old has been a real star in Ukraine and he is ready to leave the league in order to test himself at the higher level, and it looked all-but certain that a Summer move to Stamford Bridge could well be on the cards.
However, Liverpool have now entered the race and are now keen on wrapping up a deal worth around £20million.
Costa has made 133 appearances for Shakhtar, but they are prepared to let him go at the end of the season after snubbing Chelsea’s interest in January, but the final decision will be down to the player, who may have to choose between Anfield and Stamford Bridge.
It’s believed Chelsea will offer a higher wage, but Liverpool would offer more game-time for the Brazilian.
