Lucas could leave Liverpool, with Napoli keen

Lucas Leiva is reported to be on the verge of leaving Liverpool, in favour of a move to Italian Serie A side Napoli.

The midfielder has featured sporadically for the Reds over the last few Premier League seasons, due to injuries, and the recent summer recruitment by Brendan Rodgers.

And his lack of first team action could see the Brazilian leave Anfield for pastures new, with Napoli the most likely destination for the 27-year-old.

A potential move to Naples would see him reunite with Rafael Benitez, the manager who brought him to England in 2007.

Lucas’ agent, Henrique Coelho said: “Is it possible for Lucas Leiva to leave Liverpool in January? Yes, naturally.

“Lucas really likes Benitez. After all, the two know each other well.”
