Brazilian’s relationship with Brendan Rodgers has broken down

Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva is likely to leave the club following a breakdown in his relationship with manager Brendan Rodgers.

The Brazilian wasn’t even part of the match-day squad for the game against Stoke City on Sunday and didn’t travel with the team to the Britannia Stadium.

Having been so close to leaving Anfield in the past, including January when Inter Milan were desperate to sign him, it’s reported that this summer could be his time to move on.

Roberto Mancini was eager to sign Lucas in January, but Rodgers refused to sell halfway through a season, but with depth in the centre-mid region, the Northern Irishman is now ready to sell the 28-year-old.

It’s believed The Reds will allow a loan deal or a permanent deal for the Brazilian, depending on what the interested party wants to do, but it’s expected he will leave one way or the other following the recent breakdown with Rodgers.

Lucas is considered behind the likes of Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Emre Can and Joe Allen for a spot in the heart of Liverpool‘s midfield, meaning he is fifth choice at best, leaving his game-time very limited.

The Brazilian could be joined by Jose Enrique, Mario Balotelli and Fabio Borini all out of the exit door at Anfield.
