Chelsea’s dressing room silence echoes disappointment after Sheffield United draw

Following Chelsea’s disappointing 2-2 draw against Sheffield United, Noni Madueke has disclosed that the atmosphere in the Blues’ dressing room was eerily silent.

The draw came as a blow to Chelsea, who conceded a last-minute goal to the bottom-placed team, extending their run of poor performances this season.

‘Silent in the dressing room to be honest,’ Chelsea star Madueke told the BBC.

‘Of course we should have won the game. The way we drop points sometimes, it was in the palm of our hands.

‘There is still games to go, we have to stick together and I have faith we can finish in the places we want to finish in. There is some positives for sure, but this is our Achilles heel, the next game after a top result – we haven’t been able to do well in that department so far.’

Mauricio Pochettino, visibly unhappy with his team’s performance, criticized their lack of maturity and hinted at an extended path ahead to address the club’s difficulties, saying that it could take until 2029 to fix them.

Madueke’s understanding sheds light on the players’ sad attitude following the loss at Bramall Lane. The draw against a weak side compounded Chelsea’s issues, disappointing both the team and their fans.

Meanwhile, Pochettino provided an injury update on Cole Palmer, Chelsea’s best player this season. Palmer was replaced in the 74th minute, creating doubts among fans about his fitness.

Asked if Palmer had picked up an injury in his post-match press conference, Pochettino said: ‘No, no, no. I think he was tired.

As Chelsea navigates through a turbulent season, the silence in their dressing room echoes the frustration and disappointment surrounding the club’s recent performances, leaving them with much to ponder as they strive to bounce back from this setback.
