Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim eyed to succeed Klopp at Anfield

Liverpool Football Club is seemingly close to hiring Ruben Amorim as their next manager, according to Portuguese journalist Pedro Sepulveda.

The Reds, who are looking for Jurgen Klopp’s successor, originally sought Xabi Alonso but changed their attention to Amorim after missing out on the former Liverpool midfielder.

Amorim, who has received praise for his management abilities at Sporting Lisbon, is thought to be on the brink of reaching a “full agreement” with Liverpool.

Given Fabrizio Romano’s earlier claim that Liverpool continues to deliberate internally, Sepulveda’s report suggests that negotiations with Amorim might be finished as soon as next week.

Sepuleveda wrote on X: “This Sporting victory over Benfica today by 2-1 will speed up negotiations between Ruben Amorim and Liverpool. The Reds hope to reach a full agreement on the terms of the contract next week with the Portuguese coach.”

The 39-year-old coach’s potential hire comes as Liverpool competes in the Premier League and the Europa League. The club, keen to retain focus during these crucial stages of the season, could choose to keep any agreement private until after Klopp’s departure.

With Liverpool prepared to face Manchester United in a crucial Premier League match, their victory may see them regain the league lead.

As discussions with Amorim grow, Liverpool fans impatiently await formal confirmation, aiming for an appropriate send-off for Klopp as his career at Anfield comes to a conclusion.
