Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay has turned down the chance to talk to Crystal Palace about the vacant mangerial position.

Palace have been searching for a new boss since the end of October after they parted company with Ian Holloway and their attentions had briefly turned to Mackay, despite him enjoying life in Wales after their promotion to the Premier League.

Steve Parish, the club’s co-chairman revealed in an interview yesterday that they will have a new manager by the weekend, but so far, there search has not gone well.

A source close to Mackay has admitted that his only focus at the moment is keeping Cardiff in the Premier League and despite his former colleague, Iain Moody taking a job at Selhurt Park, his intentions are to staying in Wales.

The source said today: ‘Malky is chuffed that Iain has found another post but he won’t be going with him to Palace.

‘He was contacted by representatives working for Palace but told them straight away he wasn’t interested.

‘He just wants to stay at Cardiff and finish what he has started. That means keeping Cardiff in the Premier League.’
