Man City now appear to be leading the chase for Roma’s Mehdi Benatia. The Serie A giants are believed to be open to offers for the defender after admitting that they can’t give him the improved contract he desires.
He played a key part for the Italian side last season as he helped the club to second place with the second best defensive record too. The impressive season put Arsenal and Man United on high alert but reports are suggesting that Man City are in fact leading the chase for Benatia.
These reports from Italy are also claiming that boss Manuel Pellegrini will be able to offer a contract worth £3.2m per season for his services and Roma would want a fee of around £32m.
