Manchester United are trying to hijack Chelsea’s move for Luke Shaw. Mourinho believed he was in pole position to capture Southampton left-back Luke Shaw in the summer, but speculation is now mounting that United have put in place a big-money deal to sign Shaw at the end of this season.
Chelsea originally offered £27m to Southampton for the 18-year old, but United have stepped in and are reportedly offering wages of £85,000 a week to Shaw, which is more than Chelsea were believed to have put on the table.
This is a blow for the Blues, who believed he would be the successor for Ashley Cole. But for Man United, if a deal does come to fuition, it could be a great signing for the Red Devils.
