Phil Jones out of action with knee ligament damage

Phil Jones has been ruled out of Manchester United action for at least a month after suffering some knee ligament damage.

The centre-back has struggled with injuries over the recent seasons, prompting Jose Mourinho to bring in cover in that position, in the form of Eric Bailly.

Jones’ struggles are summed up by the fact that he is yet to feature for United in the Premier League so far this season, while he has also lost his place in the England set-up. When fit, Jones’ distribution on the ball is fantastic, as demonstrated by the fact that he had an average pass accuracy of 85% in the Premier League last season in the performances he made.

This new injury is badly-timed for Jones, who was set to feature in United’s opening Europa League fixture of the campaign away to Feyenoord tonight. Wayne Rooney is also set to not feature in the game against the Dutch side, and you can read the reason here.
