Manchester City full-back under Liverpool radar

According to Sports Direct News, Liverpool boss Brenden Rodgers is keen to sign French left-back Gael Clichy.

Clichy has lost his place in the starting eleven as of late to Serbian Alexander Kolorov and this could tempt him to find a new challenge at Anfield. Liverpool are reportedly willing to spend ÂŁ14m in order to land the City defender.

The move would only be realistic if the Merseyside club can secure a top four finish, and they are currently competing with Everton and Tottenham for the spot.

Clichy joined the Manchester club back in 2011 from Arsenal and he was a regular feature in the City squad, but as of late, he has taken a more subdued role and is second to Kolorov often in the squad. Clichy has managed just 11 starts this campaign and didn’t feature in the giant Premier League clash with Chelsea on Monday.

Liverpool have often found problems with the left-back position as Spaniard Jose Enrique has been sidelined through injury and French full-back Aly Sissoko has failed to impressed so far.

City would be willing to offload Clichy as they have plans to trim their squad in order to better fit UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations. So the Frenchman could see an exit as he earns around ÂŁ90K a week, and French giants PSG are also reportedly interested.
