Joe Hart and Raheem Sterling injured in Manchester Derby

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed a double injury blow for the club with both Joe Hart and Raheem Sterling suffering muscle injuries.

The winger had to be substituted in the first-half, whilst Hart was stretchered off in the second-half, and after the game Pellegrini confirmed that both are likely to miss the next three to four weeks.

It comes as a double blow to Roy Hodgson and England as they have two friendlies at the end of the month, against Germany and Netherlands, but both will be absent due to their respective issues.

Hart suffered a calf injury and Sterling damaged his groin, which was confirmed by Pellegrini after the game.

Injuries Confirmed

Pellegrini said: “Both of them have muscle injuries. Raheem in his groin and Joe in his calf.

“I don’t think a muscle injury will be fit in one week. It is normally three or four weeks.”

It topped off a bad afternoon for Pellegrini and co. as they fell to a 1-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium to fierce-rivals Manchester United.
