Citizens enter race to sign Manchester United and Chelsea target

Manchester City are desperate to hijack Manchester United’s deal for FC Barcelona star Pedro, according to fresh reports this morning.

The Spanish international has been a long-term target of both United‘s and Chelsea‘s, especially over this summer, however latest reports have the winger joining United in a deal worth ÂŁ22million, which is Pedro‘s release clause.

However, The Red Devils have put that deal in jeopardy by stalling on the move after refusing to activate the release clause and wanting to pay just ÂŁ18m.

Barca officials have already told United that they will only sell the 28-year-old if the release clause is activated, but the Premier League side are still yet to make that official bid.

With Pedro down the pecking order at the Nou Camp, he is likely to leave the La Liga champions this summer, and City could be in line to complete a shock move.

City Connections

City director Txiki Begiristain is a former official of the Catalan club and he has strong ties with the club which could benefit them in the transfer race.

According to reports, City could make a formal bid in the next few days after growing tired of waiting for Kevin De Bruyne from Wolfsburg.

City already signed a winger this summer when they coughed up ÂŁ49m for Raheem Sterling from Liverpool.
