Manchester United, City, Arsenal and Chelsea have all been told that they will have to pay £40 million for Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria.

Di Maria has attracted interest from all four clubs in the last few months or so, with Real willing to offload Di Maria in order to table bids for James Rodriquez or Luis Suarez.

New Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal will be keen to strengthen his squad even further, after signing fullback Luke Shaw from Southampton, and Ander Herrera from Atletic Bilbao.

Meanwhile Liverpool, who could sell Luis Suarez to fund the deal, have already signed Rickie Lambert and Emre Can, with Adam Lallana on the way in.

Arsenal are also keen, with Wenger a fan of the Argentine, who he almost signed last year, before moving for Mesut Ozil instead.
