Sarri worried about the growing list of injuries at Chelsea

Olivier Giroud limped off with an ankle injury after taking a blow from James Tomkins’ challenge in the second half. The Frenchman had a couple of goals disallowed due to offside before he had to make way for Alvaro Morata in the dying stages of the game.

Chelsea were already without the services of Callum Hudson-Odoi and Pedro due to hamstring injuries and Maurizio Sarri revealed that Cesc Fabregas, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Danny Drinkwater have all been hit by injuries prior to the game against Crystal Palace.

“Giroud’s problem is his ankle,” Sarri told reporters. “We have to wait for tomorrow.

“In the past days we were a bit unlucky. Yesterday in 10 minutes we had three injuries. Fabregas, Loftus-Cheek and Drinkwater.

“Then today, Giroud, and we were without Pedro and [Callum] Hudson-Odoi.”

The Blues moved five points clear of Arsenal with that 1-0 victory over Palace at Selhurst Park and Sarri’s men will play host to Southampton on New Year day.
