Manchester United have rejected a bid from Lyon for Memphis Depay, according to reports.
It is understood that the french club lodged a bid of a so far undisclosed fee for the out of favour forward, who has been linked with a move away from Manchester in the current transfer window.
It is believed that the bid made by Lyon did not meet United’s asking price for the Dutchman.
United manager Jose Mourinho has also made it clear that he is only interested in a permanent deal for Depay, as opposed to any offers of a loan away from Old Trafford.
Memphis joined United and was met with much excitement from fans, but has failed to spark, managing only seven goals in 56 appearances since his debut on the 8th of August, back in the 2015-16 season.
So far this season he has only started once – in an EFL cup fixture, signaling that Jose Mourinho would indeed prefer to offload Depay.
If Lyon do meet the asking price of United, he will be the second big name out of the door at Old Trafford, following Morgan Schneiderlin through the exit.
More on this as it comes through.
