Manchester United are set to offer striker Javier Hernandez a new contract so that he remains at the club for the forseeable future, despite his lack of game-time.

The Mexican’s future has been in the papers recently with reports suggesting that Arsenal are interested in signing him.

The United striker also tweeted on his official account an article which was about him leaving the Manchester-based club in order to find first-team football.

Over the past few seasons, Hernandez has been behind the likes of Robin Van Persie, Danny Welbeck and Wayne Rooney, and due to the fierce competition, his game-time has been limited.

However, the club are prepared to offer him a pay-rise in order to keep him at Old Trafford.

It hasn’t been suggested how much they are willing to offer him, but he is currently on roughly ÂŁ60k-a-week.
