Manchester United have reportedly put themselves in the driving seat to sign World Cup-winning defender Mats Hummels by submitting a substantial transfer offer.
Arsenal and Barcelona are also tracking the player but neither have made offers.
Rumours of Dortmund’s valuation of Hummels are varying, but it is expected that any bid would have to be upwards of £30m to turn the heads of the Dortmund executives.
All three teams in the hunt for Hummels need defensive strength, but it seems Louis Van Gaal has taken a decisive step to secure the centre-back’s signature.
