Manchester United are set to bid £45 million for Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal after finally opening talks with the Serie A club. It is believed that Vidal has already agreed to a £182,000 per week contract with United after the Chilean told friends that he wanted to quit the Turin club this summer. According to the Daily Star, talks began this week over a possible transfer and United are preparing to put a £45 million bid on the table to open the negotations.

If the offer is accepted, it will be the Red Devils’ most expensive signing ever, suprassing the £37.1 paid to Chelsea for Juan Mata last season. The only obstalce in the way of a transfer is an extensive medical check which Vidal must pass in order to complete his switch to United. The Red Devils have already been made aware of the previous ankle and knee injuries the Chile International has suffered, but Van Gaal won’t want to be spening big on a player without a full diagnosis.
