Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is finally looking to improve his defence in the coming days, as he plots a move for Roma’s Mehdi Benatia, according to reports.
United have also been linked with a move for Arsenal’s Thomas Vermaelen, with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger confirming that they have received a bid for the centre-back.
However, new United boss Van Gaal has decided that he needs more for his back line this season following the departures of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand, and has set his sights on Benatia.
The Moroccan has already been linked with both Chelsea and Spurs this summer, but according to reports, United are willing to bid £30million for the player, which could tempt the Italian side into selling.
