Red Devils favourites for Frenchman’s signature:
Manchester United are leading the way in the pursuit of Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, according to the Metro.
Arsenal had previously been perceived as the front-runners to sign the 25-year-old, who has become a mainstay in the midfielder of the St Mary’s outfit.
However, despite Southampton finishing the Premier League season in seventh, qualifying for the Europa League in the process, Schneiderlin is keen to play in the Champions League next term.
And it appears that his next destination could be Old Trafford – as Louis Van Gaal looks to overhaul his current squad, in preparation for United’s return to the top-table of European football.
It is understood that Southampton are likely to demand around £21million for the services of the player.
Arsenal transfer blow:
The recent developments will come as a bitter blow for Arsenal – who under Arsene Wenger, looked set to acquire Schneiderlin in the summer.
