West Ham United manager Manuel Pellegrini has questioned Arsenal’s decision to release Jack Wilshere at the end of the last season.
The English international had been at the club for a prolonged period and was supposed to sign a new deal to keep him at the club. But contract talks didn’t materialised and the Hammers took this opportunity to offer the player a chance to revive his career at the London Stadium.
The 26 year old is scheduled to return to the club on Saturday as the Gunners host the Hammers in a very exciting clash in the Premier League. Both the teams will be looking to register their first point of the season as they have lost their previous games and the onus will be on Pellegrini to prove a point following a quite busy summer transfer market.
Wilshere is expected to keep his place in the starting lineup.
Pellegrini said, “I played here three years against Arsenal, and before that with Villarreal in the Champions League.
“Jack was always a very good player. I don’t know the reason why he finished his contract with Arsenal.
“I don’t know why Arsenal allowed him to come here.”
