Everton manager Marco Silva has opened up on his strategy to target Chelsea midfielder Jorginho in a bid to negate the Blues effect.
Maurizio Sarri saw his Chelsea side struggling to open out the goal mouth as Everton were resolute in their defence throughout the match. Eden Hazard has been the standout player for the West London giants but the Belgian barely had the chance in the first half as Silva’s player had him under strict watch.
Chelsea doubled the intensity in the second half but Silva’s tactics was to the point as the Toffees now have a deserving one point in their kitty.
Chelsea midfielder Jorginho especially drew the attention most as Everton players kept bullying him to negate his threat and as a result, the midfielder didn’t get to play his natural game leaving the Blues in a middle of a mess.
“If you come here just to stop just [Eden] Hazard it would be our first mistake,”

“You are talking about the best Premier League player so far, but this shape with our organisation on the pitch, you block a player like Jorginho.
‘This afternoon you didn’t see Jorginho because we blocked well.
“Jorginho, in my opinion, has been one of the key players for Chelsea this season.
“I think he was one of the keys in Maurizio’s system, like he controls the match with and without the ball.
“Of course, Hazard can create problems in each moment of the match, in some moments we blocked him, the other moments he created problems like us like normal for the fantastic footballer he is.”
