Mauricio Pochettino insists Manchester City are still favourites to lift the Champions League title despite Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-0 victory over them in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final.
The game was full of excitement from the very first minute as Hugo Lloris saved Sergio Aguero’s penalty which turned out to be the most crucial point in the match.
Heung-Min Son provided the breakthrough in the 78th minutes and the North Londoners have an edge going into the second leg in Manchester. The game marred by Harry Kane’s injury and the North Londoners will be without their star striker for the rest of the season.
Pochettino said, “I am happy with the performance, the way we approached the game. Of course, the performance was very good, that is a challenge for the City, to bring this type of level of performance, and be consistent.
“Still, a lot of work to do, still Man City is the favourite to win the Champions League. Of course it is going to be tough. In one week it will be a completely different game. But the win gives us the belief, we are going to be there and fight a lot.
“For me, Man City are still the favourite.”
