Mauricio Pochettino has insisted he has no intention to succeed Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.

The Tottenham Hotspur manager is believed to be a long term target of the Red Devils hierarchy but the Argentine does have a pretty lengthy contract with his current club.

Pochettino’s has done wonders with the North London giants and has turned them into a European powerhouse over the last few years.

United have announced Michael Carrick as the interim manager but are likely to appoint a caretaker manager for the remainder of the season. Pochettino’s work has been widely appreciated and he had also been linked with the Real Madrid job.

But the manager confirms he just wants to concentrate on his current job. “I think after nearly five years there are a lot of rumours that have happened in my position here, as manager of Tottenham.

“I think after nearly five years there are a lot of rumours that have happened in my position here, as manager of Tottenham.

“I always respect the opinion of everyone, whether people praise me, whether people do not agree with me, whether people say different things. The business we know very well.

“A lot of rumours happen but it is not my business what happened at another club. I am so focused in trying to deliver my best job at this football club.

“We have ahead of us a very busy run of fixtures, tomorrow we play another derby.

“It is so important for us – the quarter-final of the cup and I think everyone understand I am focused on tomorrow and doing my best job.”
