Lionel Messi has advised Barcelona to use Ansumane Fati cautiously. The 16-year-old has made headlines after breaking into Ernesto Valverde’s lineup since making his debut for the club against Real Betis this season.
He also scored in league games against Osasuna and Valencia. Fati was brought on to replace an injured Leo Messi against Villareal in the second half and impressed yet again.
“He really caught my attention and the next day he made his debut with the first team,” Messi said earlier this week.
“I really like him and I try to help and support him. He’s an amazing player and he’s got what it takes to succeed.”
“But if I look at it through my eyes, I’d like them to bring him on gradually, like they did with me when I started, taking things nice and easy and without putting pressure on him.”
“You have to remember that he’s only 16.”
“I hope he keeps on enjoying it and that all the fuss around him doesn’t have a negative impact on him because he has the quality to become one of the best.”
“We [the players] have to help him and make sure the noise surrounding him doesn’t impede his growth. He’s got what it takes to be an important player for the club.”
